Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at fitness@eastside-dance.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

  • More flexibility: Adults often have more complex and unpredictable schedules, so a drop-in and membership-based system allows for greater freedom and convenience.
  • More freedom in scheduling: Instead of committing to one style for a full year, adults can explore a wide variety of dance and fitness classes at their own pace.
  • Easier booking: We’ve switched backend systems to streamline the booking process, making it simpler for you to manage your own schedules and class packs.
  • A separate space: Having a unique program creates an environment that feels more in line with adult goals, interests, and energy distinct from our youth programs.
  • Expanded offerings: This structure lets us offer more styles across both dance and fitness classes.

  • Yes! All our regular classes now operate on a drop-in basis for maximum flexibility.
  • Students can use single class drop-ins or monthly memberships (with a set number of classes) to attend any class they choose.
  • We will also offer beginner-level courses: These meet weekly and follow a set progression. They will build on skills from class to class and are great for those who want a more structured learning experience.

Courses:

  • These classes are designed for beginners looking to learn the basics and fundamentals of each specific style.
  • Each course meets weekly, and each class builds on the other.
  • We do allow drop ins for these classes- but it is recommended to enroll in the full session as it provides the best experience and growth.

Movement Classes:

  • These classes are more fitness based, with a focus on strength, mobility, and stamina.
  • They are drop-in based classes only and are not leveled, designed to be accessible to people of all experience levels and abilities.

Dance Classes:

  • These classes combine warm-ups, technique, and choreography.
  • They are leveled and include Open, Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced.

  • Open level: This class is designed for all levels and abilities. Whether you're a total beginner, coming back after a break, or an experienced mover, you're welcome here. Instructors offer options and modifications so you can move in a way that feels good for your body and your experience level.

  • Beginning: Perfect for those who are new to dance, or anyone looking to build a strong foundation. This class moves at a steady pace with step-by-step instruction, focusing on form, basic technique, and confidence.

  • Intermediate: Designed for those with some movement experience who are ready for more complexity and challenge. This class includes faster-paced sequences, layered choreography, and a deeper focus on technique, musicality, and stamina.

  • Advanced: For experienced dancers and movers who are comfortable with quicker transitions, intricate choreography, and athletic combinations. This class moves at a dynamic pace and challenges both physicality and performance.

Not at all! Whether you're a lifelong dancer, or just stepping into the studio for the first time, you are sure to find a class that works for you.

Yes, you absolutely still have the option to perform! As recital time approaches, we’ll open specific classes that function as courses designed for performance. These classes will culminate in a performance at our Spring Recital.

We recommend bringing a water bottle to stay hydrated. There are water fountains available at the studio if you need to refill or forget your bottle.

Depending on the class you're attending, you may also want to bring the following:

  • Yoga or Pilates: A Yoga/Pilates mat if you have one. We have a very limited number of mats available to borrow at the studio on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Style specific shoes: Tap shoes for tap, ballet shoes for ballet, etc.
  • Hip Hop or Dance Cardio: Clean, supportive sneakers that are comfortable and safe for movement.

If you need help finding supplies or have questions about what to bring, send us an email at fitness@eastside-dance.com and we’ll be happy to assist.

  • For the safety, hygiene, and comfort of all participants, appropriate athletic attire must be worn during all fitness classes. This includes:
  • Proper Footwear: Participants must wear appropriate footwear based on the specific requirements outlined in each respective class description
  • Clothing: Participants must wear appropriate workout attire, including shirts/tops and bottoms that allow for a full range of movement and provide adequate coverage
  • For the courtesy of others, please maintain general hygiene and refrain from using fragrances or overly fragrant lotions/products.
  • Failure to adhere to the dress code or general hygiene may result in removal from class at the instructor’s discretion

  • While we don’t have dedicated personal trainers, we do offer private lessons for students who may be interested.
  • These private sessions can cover dance, technique, fitness-based movement, or other specialties, depending on the instructor’s offerings and the students’ wants.
  • These can be  booked on a case-by-case basis through our office, fitness@eastside-dance.com
